How is it possible to be able to eat something this delicious and still loose weight? With good portion control! Keep to the allocated ingredients and suggested portions, and this chocolate rich, high protein bar can be enjoyed as part of your snack allowance in your calorie controlled meal plan.
Servings: 15 or 30
Ingredients
120g Rolled oats
15g Cacao Powder
1 tablespoon (7g) Cinnamon
75g Mixed seeds (Any combination of sunflower, linseeds, chia, pumpkin)
100g Raw, unsalted Almonds, roughly chopped
170g Honey
125g Peanutbutter, reduced sugar and salt (You may use any nut alternative)
125g Low fat milk (You may use an unsweetened plant based alternative)
1 serving (35g) of Chocolate flavoured Whey Protein powder (I have used Metalab Vegan Chocolate Cocoa , but also used USN Blue Whey in the past)
Method
Set the Oven at 180 degrees celsius
Add the honey and Nut butter to a microwavable dish
Melt the Nut Butter and Honey for 30-60 seconds in the microwave.
Remove, and add to the rest of the ingredients
Combine well
Prepare a baking tin by lining it with baking paper, or prepare it with cooking spray
I used a 20cm x 27cm tin
Press the mixture down into the tin
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, avoid overlooking it, it will dry out too much.
If not ready yet after 15 minutes, put it back in the oven and continue to check every 3 minutes
Remove when done, wait for it to cool down
It can now be cut into fingers.
These healthy chocolate protein bars can be individually wrapped and kept in the freezer. Do not keep it in the fridge for longer than 3 days. Out of the freezer it is ready to eat as is. Enjoy a 40g bar as a 200 calorie snack, or a 20g bar as a 100 calorie snack. I have also used a 20g bar, and crumbed it over some plain yoghurt for a after dinner treat. Delicious! And with with this treat you can still stay within your goals.
