The importance of portion control



One of the primary reasons for portion control is managing weight. Overeating, even on healthy foods, can lead to weight gain. By controlling portion sizes, you can more effectively manage your calorie intake, which is key to weight loss or maintenance.


Have the look at this example for overnight oats. I’ve compared two options, both with the same ingredients, but adapted the portions. Have a look at how easily you can consume way too much calories by ignoring  portion control. The higher calorie option might well be suitable for some individuals with higher energy needs, but if your main goal is being in a calorie deficit then this can easily slow down your progress. Know your goals, and know your portions sizes!
